I am a big fan of long car rides and road trips. I love driving through towns and gazing across the landscape along highways. There is something about the open road that is captivating. So 3 hours into a family road trip to Phoenix Arizona I began snapping a few shots as we drove along the highway. Most of these where taken along Interstate 40 and Interstate 8, that run across the desert between California and Arizona during our two long drive days to Phoenix and back.
This was not just away to occupy my time but small recordings of where I was, when I was and my reflections during that time. Its a road journal that captures the tranquil yet diverse desert landscapes while in passing.
We logged over 1800 miles spending about 30 hours in the car with no satellite radio, ipod or even cds. We took a few detours which is why there were so many miles. We drove to Lake Havasu City, The Grand Canyon, Sedona and on the way home we spent 2 days in Legoland. Despite the long drive there were minimal complaints and we all had a blast! k
